Aquifer Testing and Hydrogeologic Assessment of Public Water Supplies

R.A.R. engineering group, inc. performs Aquifer Testing and Hydrogeologic Assessments of Public Water Supplies.  These assessments are completed by in-house staff of Professional Geologists and field technicians, performing the field work, analyzing the data collected, and preparing all necessary reports.

New Castle Sanitation Authority

The New Castle Sanitation Authority is extending its collection and
conveyance system further into Shenango Township. This project
involves the design of approximately 220,000 feet of low‐pressure
sewers, force mains, and gravity sewers. It also includes the design
of three new lift stations and upgrades to two existing lift stations.
With the completion of this project, the New Castle Sanitation
Authority will provide sanitary sewer services to more than 12,000
households in the New Castle Area.

Mahoning Township Sanitary Sewer Project

Mahoning Township, with an on-lot disposal system (OLDS) malfunctioning rate of nearly 97%, needed to take action.  R.A.R. prepared an Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan Update. This update supported the construction of a 360,000-gallon per day wastewater treatment plant to service nearly 800 customers.  The project installed approximately 7-miles of sanitary sewer line and six lift stations.  The project not only eliminated malfunctioning OLDS, in turn protecting the environment, it also provided for future economic development in this area. 

Ewing Park Bridge

R.A.R. engineering group, inc., provided preliminary design, final design, and engineering services during construction to complete the Ewing Park Bridge, which carries Sims Street over the Connoquenessing Creek in the Borough of Ellwood City.

Utility Projects

Whether a utility company is installing new distribution facilities,
upgrading booster stations, surveying existing assets, or making

New Castle Area Transit Authority Park N' Ride Project

The New Castle Area Transit Authority (NCATA) retained R.A.R. to design a large Park N’ Ride facility for downtown New Castle.  The project encourages ridership throughout Lawrence County and even into the City of Pittsburgh.

Downtown Revitalization Project - City of New Castle

The City of New Castle began its Downtown Revitalization a decade ago with a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and much support from local investors.  R.A.R. engineering group, inc. was on board from inception of the City’s Revitalization Plan and has continued to provide our engineering services for the numerous upgrades to this historic city’s downtown area. 

City Park Improvements - City of Aliquippa

R.A.R. engineering group, inc., worked with the City of Aliquippa and the Community Development Program of Beaver County to make improvements to a playground in the City.  These much anticipated improvements included a Climb N’ Play structure that accommodates thirty children and a full court basketball area.

Cascade Quarry Fishing Access

R.A.R. engineering group, inc., in cooperation with the Lawrence County Conservation District and the City of New Castle, provided site development of the Cascade Quarry for the relocation of the existing parking area, restoration of the access road into the lake for trout stocking and installation of sustainable stormwater controls to facilitate use of the site for recreational fishing.  All of the work completed at the site was intended to improve the safety, accessibility and highlight environmentally sensitive road maintenance and stormwater practices.  

Cascade Park Projects - City of New Castle

Cascade Park located in the City of New Castle has been a showcase of projects for R.A.R. engineering group, inc.  From structural improvements to bridges and buildings to the enhancement of recreational facilities, R.A.R. has played an important role to ensure that Cascade Park remains a highlight of the City of New Castle. 

Underground Storage Tank (UST) Site Remediation

R.A.R. engineering group, inc. has prepared Site Characterization Reports, Remedial Action Plans, and managed site cleanup activities through PADEP and BUSTR approval for more than 100 properties contaminated by releases associated with Underground Storage Tanks (UST).

Veolia ES Alaron, LLC Proposed Training Building

R.A.R. engineering group, inc., was utilized by Veolia ES Alaron, LLC to perform engineering services related to the construction of a 6,400 SF pre-engineered steel building, 65-feet in height.  The building houses a 20-foot square x 25-foot deep training pool.  The primary use of the pool will be for the mock up and entry into the reactor vessel.

Poverty Point Road Dirt, Gravel and Low Volume Road Project

Poverty Point Road is surrounded by fields and is at a low point in topography.  Stormwater was trapped in the road corridor, compromising the road surface.  In order to address these stormwater issues, existing culverts were replaced, new culverts were installed and approximately 500-feet of underdrain was constructed.  The existing asphalt surface road on Poverty Point Road in Wilmington Township was milled and a specialized Driving Surface Aggregate (DSA) was placed as part of this Lawrence County Conservation District Dirt and Gravel Road Program.
